This is now my sixth year teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies at IB. I grew up in Erie, Illinois, a small town in the Quad Cities area, and I had excellent teachers growing up, which inspired me to become a teacher. In May, 2012, I graduated from Monmouth College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and a Secondary Education Endorsement. I am currently taking graduate courses at Illinois State University, and plan to earn a Master's in Teaching and Learning in May of 2018. Outside of school, I love music, sports, doing anything outdoors, and spending time with my friends and family.
I believe that learning from history, staying active with politics and understanding the world around us are all extremely important things. I am lucky to get the opportunity to share my passion for social studies, teaching and learning on a daily basis, and I hope I can help my students gain some of the knowledge and skills they need to lead happy and successful lives.
